What a beautiful day it was on Sunday, when Mr. Jorge Cortes, Townshend’s intrepid cyclist and Spanish teacher, led a 40 km bicycle trip through Hluboka, along the banks of the Vltava river, to the ruins of Karluv Hradek. The quaint ruins of the small castle were used as a hunter’s refuge during the 14th century. The enjoyable trip included periods of “Spanish-only” conversation, in preparation for this week’s Cambridge exams. Mr. Cortes is planning an upcoming trip with students to Trebon, for the annual animated film festival in May.
